The Foundation of Love

7 October 2026Brick by Brick · 5 of 5

Imagine driving an old car whose fuel gauge is broken. You keep driving, completely unaware that you are running on empty, until the engine suddenly sputters and dies on the side of the road in scorching heat. In our relationships, many of us operate the exact same way: we run on emotional and spiritual emptiness, broadcasting our hurt, fatigue, and frustration to those closest to us. Yet, God does not turn away from us when we mess up or run dry. Instead, He offers us an inexhaustible, super-abundant grace that refills our hearts so we can build our lives, homes, and relationships on the unshakable foundation of His love.

1

A Song Over Your Worst Mistakes

When we commit sin, make mistakes, or carry guilt and shame, human instinct tells us to hide. However, Zephaniah 3:17 reveals that God does not look at us with anger or disgust. Instead, He turns His face toward us in our most vulnerable moments, calms our fears, and rejoices over us with songs of joy. At your worst, God offers His best.

2

Super-Abundant Grace

Where sin abounds, God’s grace “much more abounds” (Romans 5:20). Just as the sun is so vast that millions of Earths could fit inside it without ever exhausting its heat or light, God’s grace is infinitely larger than your greatest mistakes. You cannot outrun His mercy, and Jesus’ sacrifice provides more than enough forgiveness for every flaw.

Love: The Birthmark of the Believer

In John 13:34–35, Jesus commanded us to love one another as He has loved us. While the world seeks miraculous signs, the greatest miracle that proves God is real to a watching world is when believers show super-abundant love to one another. Love is the non-negotiable “birthmark” of everyone who has been born again into God’s family.

Adjusting Your Antenna & Refueling

Like adjusting old television antennas to pick up a clear broadcast signal, believers must adjust their spiritual focus. Instead of broadcasting bitterness, fatigue, or resentment, we must tune into heaven’s signal of love, peace, and patience. When you realize you are running on empty, surrender to the Holy Spirit as your spiritual filling station to replenish your heart.
