Every Sunday

The Little Theatre, Oysterbay

Welcome home

Dar es Salaam is a melting pot of cultures, and so is Ocean Church: locals, expats, students and young families from all over the world. Whether you are here on a two-year contract or have lived in Dar all your life, you will find people ready to welcome you.

Our vision

We are dedicated to leading people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ where they become passionately committed to knowing Him and making Him known.

As part of the Tanzania Assemblies of God, we combine deep spiritual roots with a modern, urban approach to ministry. We believe Jesus is as present on your Monday morning as on your Sunday.

What we value

Our core values
Seen from behind, a woman in white raises her hand towards the stage

01

We seek God first

Through prayer, the Word, and the Spirit, we align everything in our lives with His will.

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Matthew 6:33 NIV

Two women from the kids team laugh together

02

We are contributors, not consumers

Each of us is called and gifted to add value to the church and community for God's glory.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God's grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10 NIV

03

We are committed to excellence

God always deserves our best, so we strive to exceed expectations in all we do.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:9 NIV

A man laughs in the baptism pool as a leader holds his hands

04

We move boldly, not in fear

The gospel is urgent, and we honor God with confident, courageous steps.

Therefore, since we have such a hope, we are very bold.

2 Corinthians 3:12 NIV

Two women talk and laugh after the service

05

We choose and value each other

Life is better together; we intentionally build relationships and support one another.

Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.

Philippians 2:3–4 NIV

06

We give generously

We are conduits of God's grace, love, and blessings, sharing abundantly with others.

But since you excel in everything, in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you, see that you also excel in this grace of giving.

2 Corinthians 8:7 NIV

Beyond Sunday

We believe that spiritual growth happens best in community.

A home for generations

Every Sunday we fit 700 to 800 adults into a theatre built for 534, often turning families away because we cannot accommodate them. We are building a permanent home on the Peninsula, a sanctuary where no one is turned away.
